Google has re-branded the Webmaster Tools application as “Search Console”. Along with the re-brand, Search Queries are being replaced by Search Analytics. The new reports enable comparison of search results by query, landing page, country, device type, search type and date. Examples:
- “Before and after” analysis to learn if traffic has changed in response to an event, such the change to the mobile friendly aglo recently
- Compare impressions to CTR to understand why highly ranked pages aren’t converting as well as they could
- “Group by query” analysis to determine is keywords are performing as expected and discovery of unexpected keywords that are driving traffic
Google is phasing out the old Search Queries tool in 3 months, so now is the time to learn the new, more powerful Search Console.
